Tig’air: the mechanical weed puller for low-growing crops

The Tig’air mechanically pulls weeds in low-growing crops by gripping the stems and extracting them with their roots.

Developed by Bionalan after several years of research and prototypes, the Tig’air is an agricultural machine designed to mechanically pull weeds in low-growing crops.

Thanks to a blade roller and pulling rollers system, the stems are pinched and then pulled outward in order to extract the plant with its root and limit regrowth.

Targeted weeds

Chenopodium, amaranth, thistles

And other weeds growing above the crop.

Pulling system

Pinching + extraction

Blade roller and lower rollers creating a pinching and pulling effect.

Operating principle

An efficient mechanical pulling principle

The Tig’air is based on a system composed of a large blade roller that pushes the weeds toward two coated lower rollers.

The stems are then pinched between these rollers, creating a pulling effect that extracts the plant together with its root.

Intervention window

Operate when weeds grow above the crop

The system is particularly effective when weeds grow about 10 centimeters above the crop. This allows the plant to be pulled out without disturbing the crop in place.

Adjustments and adaptability

Simple adjustment depending on weed growth stage

The Tig’air easily adapts to weed development by adjusting the blade roller speed and the forward working speed.

Early intervention

A slower blade roller rotation allows early-season intervention on the first weed emergence, with a gradual and better-controlled action.

Wide intervention window

Thanks to its large diameter, the Tig’air can operate on weeds that are already tall and well developed.

Field applications

Target weeds and crops

The Tig’air was designed to mechanically pull weeds that grow above the crop. Its pinching system extracts the plant together with its root to limit regrowth and seed production.

The machine is particularly effective when weeds grow about 10 cm above the crop. In these conditions, the blade roller pushes the stems toward the pulling rollers, which extract the plant.

Target weeds

  • Chenopodium
  • Amaranth
  • Thistles
  • Other weeds growing above the crop

Target crops

  • Sugar beet
  • Soybean
  • Low-growing vegetable crops
  • Row crops sensitive to weed pressure

The Tig’air can also be used in certain specific situations, particularly to intervene on flower bulb stems.
